Sympathy

These always so hard to make...Sympathy cards, best to keep them simple. This card, though, I wanted it to have some color and not be in the usual subtle colors you find in sympathy cards in stores. This is also my first try ever making a "Masking" card. I think I did a good enough job on it.

*Background Paper - From Michael's single sheet rack, is called "Green Swirl" by Recollections.
*Center Panel - Solid white and green cardstock from my scrap box.
*Bow/Ribbon - I made the bow using a satin-edged sheer ribbon.
*Sentiment - Close to My Heart "Sincere Expressions Occasions" acrylic stamp set.
*Flowers - I used the stamping technique with a Stampendous "Agapanthus" rubber stamp. I colored the flower centers with a gold metallic ink Gellyroll pen, then I used Wink of Stella in clear glitter on the flowers for some bling. It shows up very nice on the actual card, than the photo. :(:(

Anticipation

I call this card  "Anticipation" because so many young children will be going to their very first day of school and riding that yellow school bus. Some will have different levels of anticipation when they wake up in the morning, some anxious, some with fear and tears...either way they soon get over it, right? This week at the http://fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com/ , the theme is to make a "Back to School" card. The little story above is what came to mind when making this card.
*Ruler Pattern Paper - Recollection "All Season" stack.
*School Sign - Cricut image cut from the "Stretch Your Imagination" cartridge. The word "school" is also cut out at the same time as the sign, to make one solid piece. The sentiment was also written on the sign with my Explore.
*Bus - Also from the "Stretch Your Imagination" cartridge. Cut and layered in gray, yellow and black cardstock. Popped the bus with 3-D squares.
*Smiley Face - Is a sticker I had in my embellishments box.

Flower Friends

I made this card using this floral cardstock with a black background and all these gold foil dots all over it. Due to the camera flash they all reflected back in various looks ( white, black, gold)...not what I was going for. The more true-looking ones are at the bottom left corner. But, I not being a photographer, I didn't know how to take the picture to it's best advantage. :(
*Floral Cardstock - DCWV "Pocket Blossom" stack. Pink and Gold colors are from single sheet cardstock from Michael's.
* "Friends" Sentiment - Bugaboo digi stamp. I used watercolor pencils to color the flower and added a pink brad to the flower center.
*Ribbon - Bought at SSAS (a very inexpensive outlet store here for all sewing materials, fabrics and craft needs). This one is a very pretty cotton-like woven ribbon made of metallic gold and pink threads.
*Corners - A very old corner punch, sorry no name.

Grandparents Day

So nice to have a challenge this week that  recognizes "Grandparents Day", not only because I happen to be a "Nana", but I know first hand how much our own children depend on us parents when it comes to their children's well being.
I really enjoyed putting this card together for the theme at Come & Get It, for "Grandparents Day".
*Image - Is a "Dearie Doll Digi".
*Frame - Spellbinders "Scalloped" die. Added pearls to corners and some Gellyroll "Clear Star" glitter pen to the rose for some bling.
* Sentiment - Is computer-generated, written with one of my computer fonts.
I made the bow with ribbon from my Scrap box, the flowers are by Recollections.

School Colors

It's Back-to-School at The Male Room Challenge, http://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/ . But, this one is to incorporate your school colors in your creation. I am from Tucson, AZ and of course we love our University of Arizona with our Navy and Red school colors. Goooooooo Wildcats!!
College Image - Cut on Explore using the image from the "Locker Room" cartridge. The top Navy overlay cut is positioned on top of the bottom red shadow.
Embossing - Used my Cuttlebug and the "Gears" Provo Craft folder.
Good Luck - Printed on the base card using the writing feature on the Explore. I used the "Sophomore Year" font. Added a diploma brad and gold foil stars.
Sorry, still having problems with colors posting evenly. :( :(

Flowers & Swirls

This card is one I created by using the sketch at the Feeling Sketchy Challenge for this week. It is a very pretty and swirly sketch with limitless opportunities.
Floral Pattern - DCWV "Pocket Blossom" stack. Corners are from a hand-squeeze punch by Fiskars.
Swirl - Cricut image cut on Explore, added pearls.
Butterfly - My "Embellies" stash
Sentiment - Stamped with green Stazon stamp ink. Sorry, don't have name for "Love You" acrylic stamp. Used a pretty blue, pearl-like cardstock and a  "Cottage Kutz" oval die for sentiment. Matted sentiment with chipboard for 3-D effect.
Flowers - From a "Spring" flower set by Recollections, at Michael's. I added a small cluster of  pearl beads. I threw away the packaging these come in...what are this things called that are used to make corsages and buttonaires, anyway??)

Howdy Pardner

I made this card using the Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge for this week. Happy with the way it turned out, it was quick to put together. I started with a Kraft cardstock pre-made base card, giving it a warm brown look to the outside and inside of the card.
*Red Panel: Embossed using a Cuttlebug "Pueblo" folder.
*Light Beige Panel: This heavier cardstock is speckled with assorted colors, with bits of gold foil-like
specks being more prominent.
*Beige Center Square: Is cut with a Cottage Kutz "Stitched Square" die.
Star(Cricut Font & Basic Shapes), Howdy)(Birthday Cakes), and Hat (County Fair): Are all cut on Explore using images from the above cartridges. I made a hat band with red embroidery thread and added a tiny gold star to it. I popped the Star and Hat with 3-D squares.
