The Paper Players

Hello????
Do you ever go a long time from seeing or talking to a family member or friend....does anyone still write/send letters anymore?
Well, I thought a good old fashioned "Hello" card in the mail instead of a surprise call,  might just knock the socks off from the recipient! Here is my card which I was inspired by Claire's sketch challenge at http://thepaperplayers.blogspot.com/ .

Base Paper - Recollections "Romantic" stack. It actually has an Ombre effect to it, from dark to light to the bottom
Stitch Circle - Cut on the Explore from a Design Studio image
Circle Pattern Paper - DCWV "Taj Mahal" stack
Banner - Also cut on Explore from a Design Studio image
Sentiment - Old mounted rubber stamp from Michael's
Flower - From  Michael's Recollections, it came in a round tin container. I added a blue brad to the flower center.
Sorry, it looks sort of fuzzy. I tried to fix it but to no avail. :(

Love is in the Air!
Ah, the birds chirping and flowers are a-bloomin' ! I LOVE this time of year, the smell of flowers, birds singing and nature coming to life. Most of the challenges for me this week are all about Springtime. Here is my card to celebrate the arrival of Spring.

I started with solid pink and navy blue cardstock for the base:
* - Embossing - "Chicken Wire" Cuttlebug folder by Provo Craft
* - Lace Border - From my ribbon scrap box. Added three gem stones for bling
* - Floral Paper - Recollections "Paddywack" 6X6" stack, I used a punch by Fiskar for the corners
* - Scallop Circle - Cut on Explore from the "Lazy Labels" cartridge
* - White Circle - Cut with a Spellbinder die
* - Image is a Bugaboo stamp with a computer-generated sentiment
* - Banner - I made using ribbon scraps.

Cardz 4 Guyz

Sympathy Card: Trees
Design Team Member, Joan over at cardz4guyz.blogspot.com/  has challenged us this week to make a Sympathy card with the theme being "Trees". I didn't find any "tree" paper in my stash, but I did find an embossing folder perfect for the tree theme, so off I went with it and here is the card I created.
*Base Cardstock - Is a very pretty, very subtle green and sparkly design from the DCWV "French Country" stack. Sorry, the sparkly didn't show up very well. :(
* I used a Darice " Tree Trunks" embossing folder on a darker brown square. I used a green,  American Craft premium metallic ink, glitter marker on the embossed leaves. I see the sparkle did show up a bit better on the leaves. This square I matted with regular light beige cardstock.
* Sentiment - Is a Close to My Heart acrylic stamp from the "Sincere Expressions" collection, stamped using black Staz-on ink.
* Corners - Is a corner punch that was gifted to me, sorry it doesn't have a product name on it.

Merci, My Dear!
Loved this very simple and fun sketch at http://tuesdaymorningsketches.blogspot.ca/ by Jessi Fogan. So many ideas to go with, but one can never have to many Thank You cards on hand. This CuttleBug embossing folder was perfect for it! I liked that the colors are perfect for either gender, too, that's if a guy doesn't mind a little old white flower on a card...LOL!
*Pattern Paper - This "paper" is very unusual, it feels almost like cloth or lace you can see right through it. It is made in India for The Paper Company and distributed by COLORBöK. The paper is very fiberous and you can see some of the fibers along the edges.
*Panel Embossing -  Is a "Thank You" CuttleBug folder by Provo Craft.
* Flower - It's crochet, from a pack of assorted sized flowers. Sorry, no idea where I found these.
* Brads - To the three small Star Brads and the flower center, I poked iridesent sequins through them before attaching to the card, to give the card some sparkle.

Pretty Purple Flowers
I love this floral paper that I have had forever, I think I bought it at Michael's a very long time ago, it is so girly and dainty. The torquoise and purple combo is so unusual, I decided to go with solid purple shades so as not to distract from it.
* Congrats -  Close to My Heart acrylic stamp using Staz-On black ink
* Corners - Fiskar corner punch
* Embossing - "Flowers & Leaves" Darice folder. I also used a Darice "Easy Frame" circle embossing folder to keep the center of the sentiment from embossing.
I added a sheer, satin-edged ribbon for the strip, and for the tab to the right. I added pearls to the corners.

The Male Room

Oh, Those Guy Cards!
This is the type of card that can be oh so hard to put together because after all, how much bling can you put on a guy card, right?! Over at themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.co.uk/ we are being challenged to create a male card with a  "WOOD" theme.

I came up with this card using a Kraft paper card base, and mostly shades of brown, some Jute trim, and red Jute for some "pop". The wood slat pattern paper is from DCWV "Industrial Chic" stack, The banner is from a pack of twelve, by "CraftSmith" and I embossed it with a  "Woodgrain" Cuttlebug folder. The sentiment is written on the Explore on plain beige cardstock and also cut out on the Explore, I also cut out a square of light beige shimmery cardstock to mat it on. Jute trim is from a pack from Walmart.

Baby Oh Baby!
I made this card using scraps from my stash. It is a very simple CAS card to welcome the little one. Came together pretty quick in about one hour and not my usual 3-4 hours it usually takes me to put a card together The image is a stick-on I found in  box of assorted tags and stick-ons for use on most all kinds of cards. I used 3-D Zots to give the oval some depth. The acrylic stamp is by Studio G.

Green, Green, and More Green

Being that St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow, I thought I would use the two challenges below to celebrate the occasion. I chose to not go with the customary "green beer" or Leprechauns, and went with a Good Luck card, instead. LOL!!
*Papers - Plain green is from open stock, the polka dotted one is from a meandmyBIGideas "Champs" stack.
*Circles - I used Spellbinders on the two bigger circles, and matted all three with chipboard for depth.
On the white circle I used a Cuttlebug "Spots and Dots" embossing folder. The green circle I cut and printed "Good Luck" on the Explore, using a Recollections pen in "Grass" ink. I used a "Swiss Dots" folder and added a metal shamrock brad.
Corners - Used a Friskar corner punch.
Happy St. Pat's Day every one!

Thank You So Very Much

Sharing a card I made with a sketch from a card making book my daughter gifted me for Christmas, titled The Cardmaker's Book by Jenn Mason. It is from the section called "Color Schemes", which is all about picking color combinations. I really liked the way it came out.
Papers - From my single sheet box
Light Green Floral Paper - From Recollections "Romantic" stack, which I embossed with a "Modern Wallpaper" CuttleBug folder.
Butterflies - Used a Martha Stewart punch and I double-layered them and added a Skittle.
Sentiment - Is a Close-to-My -Heart acrylic stamp.
The light green panel's flap is folded over and stapled.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Hello Everyone!
After a six month absence, I am B-A-C-K!!! We decided to sell our home and downsize after 48 years of accumulating "stuff'” that I absolutely thought I could not ever part with. I did part with quite a lot, but all for the best. I have really missed creating cards and looking at all of the cards created by all of you very talented Ladies. I'm so happy to be back!

This week Melissa Craig has provided this great sketch for us http://tuesdaymorningsketches.blogspot.ca/ be sure to check out all the Design Teams inspiration.

Oil your Gears
GET BETTER
Soon
The gears image is a computer download to which I added three metal "Sprocket Gears" by Jim Holtz idea-ology collection. I used metal brads to place the gears over existing gears on the image. The sentiment is computer-generated and I used brown staples to attach the center square to the back CuttleBug "Gears" embossed panel. The photo corner is a die from "My Little Paper World".
